It’s official: I suck at blogging. Even though it’s something I want to do, and even though I read blogs daily, I just can’t establish a routine for posting to my own blog on even a semi-regular basis. *sigh*
However, things are changing at a breakneck pace around here these days, and I feel like I’ll want this space to come back to later and remember the little moments that I’d otherwise forget. It’s too overwhelming to think about going back to the beginning of this pregnancy and posting every little detail, so I’m starting from here. 16 weeks today.
Thank goodness the first trimester is over. Morning sickness? Just…please. I was sick all day every day for about 7-8 weeks. I hate to vom (who likes it, really?), but the never-ending nausea was actually even worse.
I wanted to start taking weekly pics early on, but didn’t actually feel well enough (or look decent enough) to start until week 13.
Today was my 16 week appointment, and everything is going extremely well. We heard little one’s heartbeat (which is still in the 150s), which is always so exciting.
This blog (which also gave me the chalkboard idea) has good weekly topics to help me remember where I was at each stage. But let’s face it; there’s no way I’ll be able to keep up weekly.
How far along? 16 weeks today
Total weight gain/loss: I am still down 4 pounds from starting point…but I did gain 1 from the last appointment, so things are headed in the right direction!
Maternity clothes? Not yet…but it’s definitely time to start shopping.
Stretch marks? Not yet (knock on wood)
Sleep: Sleep is great for the most part, but I sometimes have trouble falling asleep even when I’m exhausted (which is pretty much always), and I have a LOT of weird dreams.
Best moment this week: Hearing baby’s heartbeat
Miss Anything? Mostly I just miss feeling like myself physically. Aside from the nausea, I’ve had several other symptoms that are completely foreign to me. Okay, that and BL Lime-a-Ritas since it’s summer.
Movement: None yet, but my doc said I could feel movement soon…or not.
Food cravings: Not really.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Anything? More like everything. It’s not as bad as it was in the first trimester, but smells and the idea of certain foods make me feel sick.
Have you started to show yet: Yep! Although, for people who don’t know me, they might just assume I’m bloated or had a big lunch.
Gender: We won’t find out for a few more weeks…and I can’t wait! I still say girl. Nathan still says boy.
Labor Signs: No, thankfully.
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!
Looking forward to: Finding out if the baby is a boy or a girl; moving into our new house in two weeks and getting started on the nursery. Let the nesting begin!
